To Serve
TO SERVE
Have I done enough today
Have I, in some special way
Reached another heart this day
In the end this is not for me to say
The thirst to serve does not abate
Ti's a thirst which will never sate
I wonder at times if others relate
But this very thought doth denigrate
To what purpose do I reach out
do i towards others look about
no, to this end I do doubt
for that would lead my soul to drought
like a moth to flame I aspire to serve
giving of my life without reserve
any recognition is undeserved
the sanctity of the act is preserved
-Shiidon, December 2009
I was reflecting on the conference that I mentioned earlier. There were so many selfless souls that participated and helped out with the event. I was blessed to witness the man behind the curtain who did all the PowerPoint and images for the conference, the director of the incredible entertainment, the entertainers, the speakers, the ushers, the camera and technical people and countless others who gave from themselves for each other. Not one person was paid to do what they did in their area of service. Over two thousand people were able to participate in a very moving weekend. We all as participants benefited from the selfless service provided by others. This poem is an attempt to capture a part of the essence that leads those hearts towards service to each other.
