Celestial Musings

CELESTIAL MUSINGS

It has been so long

The tethers are gone

I’m free to fly

High in the sky

Forging forward

With no care

Of the challenges ahead

Quite unaware

For now, as I sail above

Closer to, the World I love

Searching through, my minds eye

The peace I find, a deep sigh

To be tethered

To the world below

Can cause the spirit

To grow slow

The challenges ahead, are new

They take on new color, new hue

Too long I’ve delved on things mundane

Circling down, as in a drain

But slowly I’ve shed

others watch and dread

I embraced it, instead

The abandonment of things surreal

The embrace of the ethereal

One by one attachments fall

As I hear, the clarion call

Years of dross, doth fall away

And for higher thing, doth make way

Striving towards, a new day

I do not forsake

What I leave behind

The love and care

Come to mind

Always my heart

A place they find

It will come to be

That other tests

Will come to me

And the person

I’ve come to be

But that’s what life

Is meant to be

And the next plateau

I will reach

And its wall

In time I’ll breach

And on and on it doth go

The cycle of life

Tested by strife

Cutting deep

As if by knife

The more of this we learn

The less of this world

Do we concern

And look forward

And discern

And so my friend

It’s time to leave

And fly high

To the heavens on high

Towards the sunset

In the sky

A future no longer

Denied

I can't really say where this poem comes from except that a crossroads seems to have been reached. This past fast had a profound impact on me as mentioned earlier and it seems that it will continue to inspire me to write. material things are important as we are living in a material world. The trinkets of this world lose their luster after a while and more importance is placed on the spiritual rather than the material. Is it the big screen TV that is our focus or the friendships of the past, present and future? True enough, there is nothing wrong with material pursuits as long as they do not detract from the most important.
