Departure

DEPARTURE

Peace and Calm

Settle over me

Ti’s the way

I prefer to be

From time to time

Thrust into my life

Is an unwanted

Source of strife

Ti’s a reminder

That as detached

As I may be

I am human

And never, completely free

The tug I feel

Unwanted, I reel

Self-denigration

The mantra I peal

My hopeless past

The sword I wield

I long for the day

When I can fly

In the supernal sky

And no longer need

An answer

To my question “why?”

Logic and reason

Come to bear

And these tests

Begin to wear

And of light from darkness

I become aware

Peace and Calm

Settle over me

Ti’s the way

I call this poem departure for it was written while listening to a very moving piece of music to me.  The music is from the movie Gattica, which itself has had a profound effect on me.  This piece comes at the end of the movie.
