Life's Grand Ball

LIFE'S GRAND BALL

We dance in rhythm
Hand in hand
To the beat
Of the common band
Obscured in the crowd
Our solitude hidden

We long for love
We dream and hope
Yet alone we find
That we must cope

What good is joy
That cannot be shared
The need to give
The want, to be cared

The tempo beats on
Moments come, and are gone
We spin to the music of life
The ebb and flow
Of joy and strife

Even when
Among others surround
We are alone, within our thoughts
Our true self is found
Contemplating, the trite and profound
This together, our common ground

The rhythm’s and patterns
That we see
Are reflections
Of our inner chi
Together we play
Our symphony
Out of our seeming cacophony

What worth
Do my dreams have
When measured against
The myriad voices
That I do hear
From those afar
And those near

I learned to take joy
In that of others
And suffer in pain
When they fall and stumble
In what others see
As being humble

Tis a salve
This vicarious view
Putting off the good and bad
What I am due
What else can I do?

We dance in patterns
One and all
But some of us
Stand against the wall
Waiting for the call
In life’s grand ball
-Shiidon, February 2013

Still on a theme of listening to what I call contemplative music I found this poem spring from some thoughts while driving home from work tonight.  My day started off driving towards a most beautiful full moon.  I am moved by a full moon more than any other phase.  There is much to see and appreciate in nature.  The Bahá'í Fast is approaching and I already am finding myself contemplating deeper thoughts and patterns in life.  There are stories to tell, poems to share and thoughts to meditate upon.  I see a lot of this in the next few weeks.
