Ebb and Flow

EBB and FLOW

Feeling

Is a gift from above

We feel pain, joy and love

Some swim content

In the shallows

And others go deep

And breach the depths

Of emotions keep

To reach

The apex of feeling

We must at times

Be battered and reeling

For with the heights

of joy and love

comes sorrow, thereof

we think not

when overjoyed recall

of the sorrow

that will upon us befall

When we,

In the depths of despair

Do not think of

The joy

Or care

The choice it seems

Is to either be reserved

Or otherwise extreme

For me, I embrace

That which makes

My heart race

And puts me at my pace

For to know

What I can give

Is what gives me

A reason to live

And though at times

It will drive me down

To the point

In sorrow drown

I am able

To reach heights

Not known before

And in time

I can give more

I find myself gasping

Upon the floor collapsing

But a smile appears

Upon my face

And I look ahead

To that place

When the joy, will

This sorrow replace

I am a lover of life. I relish each moment though I long for that world to come. In reflecting on emotion and feeling many thoughts came to my mind. The one that seemed to stick out was that of intensity. Some people are tempered and have highs and lows that balance each other well and are near the axis of normality. Others, though normal have extremes of high and low. There is great joy to be had in these people. Going hand in hand however is the feeling on the other side of the spectrum of sorrow and pain. The ability to experience such highs brings on the inevitable experience of deep sorrow. It is to this latter that I find myself identifying with. It is almost as if one is smoldering with intensity not knowing to which extreme it will be called to. So, for those one or two of you that may happen upon this blog, I hope you enjoy it from time to time.

The photo is one I took of the Bangladeshi lamp that hangs in my bedroom.
