One IS All

ONE IS ALL

Each soul
Upon this Earth
Has a role
And part to play
In the drama that is
Humanity’s grand play

Each life sings out
In the song of life
And together becomes
A chorus divers and beautifully rife

Each person is vital
In this dramatic recital
No voice is unneeded
Though at times
Their cries go unheeded

That we are alone
Tis but an illusion
Brought about
By our own self delusion

Look at each person
You come to meet
See their story
As you do greet
See the hopes,  joys and fears
And know within
That your lives intertwine
All the laughter and all the tears

Each loss, a shared loss
Each triumph
A win for all
The chorus of hearts sings out
Its victory call

We are headed for a glorious day
When we’ll treat with kindness
Each other in this way

We see the sorrows
That do us surround
And seem to mercilessly abound
But we ignore the fact
That humanity
Is on a different tact
And we are heading on the right track

More and more
Against injustice do we stand
Greed and avarice are exposed
And seen first hand
The more we see
The more together we band

In each soul
A reflection I see
Another part of me
Taking out the “I”
And changing “me” to “we”
No one more important
One from another
For we are all in this world
Sister and brother
And that glue that binds us all
Is that most fundamental element of all
Tis the element
 of love
-Shiidon, December 2012

I have been wanting to write for some time but have been immersed in family, work, teaching and tutoring.  My pen beckoned me and, after putting a fresh cartridge of ink in, wrote this poem just now.  It is self explanatory.  I will say this.  I believe that we are all equal in God's eyes.  We think of ourselves more often than we do others.  I have found that this focus on "me" seems to diminish with age.  We, not me.
