Open to Surrender
OPEN TO SURRENDER
When you ask
God’s will be done
Can you accept
What has become?
Are we simply wanting
Confirmation
Or are we open to
Surrender
When His will appears
To bring tears
When scenarios play out
In our head
Scenarios long gone
Lying dead
The reality of who we are
Comes clearly through
And if only then
We knew
What pain would be addressed
By not being distressed
And submitting fully
To that call
When asked for
And received
Rather than self-deceive
Reach out in time
And you will see
How it is
You came to be
The fulfillment
Of your destiny
So relax in peace
And acquiesce
For this too shall pass
And an inner calm
Will settle and last
-Shiidon, October 2013
There was a meeting last night that I attended about service. It helped to focus on what is important and what is not. In accepting what is in our hands and what is not. It brought a great amount of reflection and mediation today. The overall flow of the day was one of joyful gratitude that nothing seemed able to dissuade. Though I have much to do, I find myself late at night at my trusty desk. I was moved to write this poem.
